A beautiful and increasingly collectible example of the iconic Fender Stratocaster, finished in the stunning and seldom-seen Sienna Sunburst. Part of the short-lived International Series, this 1981 model captures a distinctive moment in early ’80s Fender history, combining bold aesthetics with classic Stratocaster tone.

Produced between circa 1979–1982, the International Series showcased unique finishes and period-specific features, including the three-bolt neck with Micro-Tilt adjustment. This example stands out with its white three-ply pickguard and matching white pickup covers and knobs — a clean, cohesive look that perfectly complements the warmth of the Sienna Sunburst finish.

The Sienna Sunburst is particularly striking, allowing the natural wood grain to show beautifully through the translucent finish, giving the guitar depth, character, and undeniable vintage appeal.

There is some confusion regarding the exact 'year' of this run, as the headstocks show the 'S9' prefix associated with 1979 production, however as you can see, the body is stamped 1980, and the pots 1979. For the sake of simplicity, we have opted to label the set as '1981' guitars, as it is widely believed the International Series guitars were circulated in 1981.

This guitar is in very good vintage condition overall. Cosmetically, it presents beautifully with only light play wear and no significant dings or heavy scuffs.

The frets show no major signs of wear and have plenty of life remaining, ensuring excellent playability. Hardware and plastics remain in very good shape, consistent with a well-preserved instrument of this era.

The International Series was produced for only a short period, making these guitars increasingly rare — and examples in Sienna Sunburst are particularly eye-catching. With its original hard case, excellent cosmetic condition, and stunning grain-enhhanced finish, this is a standout vintage Stratocaster that will appeal equally to collectors and players.
