A striking and collectible example of the iconic Fender Stratocaster, finished in the bold and vibrant Capri Orange. Part of the short-lived and highly desirable International Series, this 1981 model captures a unique era of early ’80s Fender production and remains a standout piece both visually and tonally.
We're very pleased to have the whole set of 9 'International Series' colours currently in stock! (At least for now, at the time of writing).
Produced between circa 1979–1982, the International Series represented a colourful departure for Fender, offering Stratocasters in a range of vivid custom finishes. These models featured the distinctive three-bolt neck design, black plastic knobs and pickup covers, and a laminated white pickguard — a combination that has become highly collectible.
This Capri Orange example delivers excellent resonance, with the classic lively response that three-bolt Strats from this period are known for.
There is some confusion regarding the exact 'year' of this run, as the headstocks show the 'S9' prefix associated with 1979 production, however as you can see, the body is stamped 1980, and the pots 1979. For the sake of simplicity, we have opted to label the set as '1981' guitars, as it is widely believed the International Series guitars were circulated in 1981.

This guitar presents very well overall and remains in very good vintage condition. The frets show only minimal wear, suggesting plenty of life remaining.
There are some small dings visible on both the front and back of the body, as shown clearly in the photos. These are minor, age-appropriate cosmetic blemishes and do not affect playability or structural integrity.
The hardware shows light signs of corrosion, primarily on the machine heads and rear backplate, consistent with a well-preserved vintage instrument of this age.
The International Series was produced for only a brief window, making these guitars increasingly rare. Capri Orange is one of the most vibrant and recognisable finishes from the range, offering undeniable vintage appeal and stage presence.
A resonant and well-playing three-bolt Stratocaster with strong character, original case, and classic late ’70s Fender charm — an excellent addition for collectors and players alike.
