Here's a neat Fender that you don't see often! This 1980 The Strat is finished in Olympic White with matching headstock, gold hardware and a maple neck & fretboard. This guitar is in very good condition for it's age and is playing great.
There are some small scratches, marks & dings as pictured but no more than expected on a well kept guitar of this age. The backplate and tremolo arm are missing and it has received a professional refret with jumbo frets previously.
A very cool piece of Fender history, comes with a '70s Fender hardshell case.
"In 1980 Fender shortened its name to it's long stand-by the nick-name of "The Strat" but they also started to revert it to its more iconic form. You see the return of the original smaller headstock, 4-bolt neck, and vintage styled truss rod at the heel.
Things changed under the hood a bit, adding some extra output to the bridge pickup and also made the control set up a bit more flexible. You have your normal master volume, but then you have a master tone control. The knob where the neck tone control used to be located is now a 2-way rotary switch that now gives you a total of 9 switching options; the usual 5-way switch plus 4 new ones: 1. neck and middle pickups in series 2. middle and bridge pickups in series 3. neck and bridge pickups in parallel 4. neck and bridge pickups in parallel with middle pickup in series.
