Rare. Weird. Legendary. And absolutely dripping in ‘60s mojo!
Here's a serious piece of guitar history with a story almost as wild as the instrument itself.

According to company founder Nat Daniel, who discussed the subject with Jim Washburn in a mid-1980s interview, Danelectro built only one left-handed instrument during its entire production run — a Coral Electric Sitar made for guitarist Jimi Hendrix.

Danelectro has since brought this iconic instrument back with a faithful reissue of the classic Coral Electric Sitar. Unlike Hendrix's original left-handed example, however, the current reissue is built right-handed.

The Coral Sitar uses standard 6-string electric guitar strings, so the basic playing experience is immediately familiar. The distinctive sitar-like twang comes from its unique flat “buzz bridge”, which creates the characteristic buzzing resonance that gives the instrument its unmistakable voice.

Alongside the six playing strings are sympathetic strings, adding extra resonance and that unmistakable sitar shimmer. The six main strings are powered by two Lipstick® pickups, while the sympathetic strings have their own dedicated Lipstick® pickup.
