"Record collectors instantly recognize the all metal tones and rhythms of all metal resonators captured on 78 rpm records, and the Patrician holds every tone and note symbolic of the legendary players of the past that gave us the roots of blues and rock today. Once owned only by elite players and recording artists of the 1930’s, The Patrician is a reality for anyone wishing to explore this unique sound and packed into a comfortable Parlor size.
The Patrician’s Brass body is hand made in limited qualities and soldered and finished by a master luthier dedicated to resonator guitars. The body is finished in brilliant hand polished Chrome as brilliant as a ’55 Cadillac. In keeping with its historical provenience, we employ our 1930’s Zephyr radio knobs to control the volume and tone from our Telecaster style single coil pickup . The Patrician is everything a premium Biscuit style brass bodied resonator should be and wrapped up in a moderate weight Parlor size.
Once in your hands, The first thing you’ll notice right away is the tapering 38mm wide neck. Perfect for single note and progressive cord playing. The Parlor size fits comfortably in your lap or can be played standing. The sound of The Patician is the true distinctive tone of an authentic Biscuit Resonator guitar rather than the shallow sound of a Spider cap resonator. Whereas a Spider cone ads volume, the Biscuit cone provides volume plus the distinctive Delta Blues Sound.
Hidden beneath the 1920’s National honeycomb style hubcap is our own hand-spun aluminum cone and biscuit bridge. Recessed deep inside the brass body is our own Craven Telecaster style single coil pickup to elevate the volume our your Patrician to be heard over the loudest gin parlor patrons. Give the Patrician all your emotion and she’ll broadcast it acoustically or plugged in.
To set the standard of excellence, no inexpensive Zink Alloy 6 string tail piece. Only a true 4 string tailpiece will do. Our Tailpiece is truly our commitment to premium Tenor Guitars and our Signature of excellence.
In our attention to detail, we have embellished The Patrician neck in cream binding for a true vintage look and to be certain of authenticity, we have remastered 1930s Zephyr radio knobs as our volume and tone controls. Our Craven Logo is hand inlayed Abalone appropriate for a distinguished premier quality guitar.
If you have a passion for true rich Delta Blues sounds and the early traditional Hawaiian resonator tones, you have found your Premier Resonator guitars here at Craven Tenor Guitars. When you slide your matching serial number faux alligator style Hard shell case from under your bed, unlock the clasps and open the lid, your Patrician will take you back to the black and white era, the sound of gramophones, steamy hot juke joints and vaudeville. Waiting for you in that beautiful case is a pair of hand blown bottle sides at no additional cost."
