Do You Have a Trade In?

A true piece of music history, this 1967 first-year Coral Electric Sitar – Vincent Bell Signature is presented in the iconic Red Crackle Finish and is complete with its original owner's manual. It comes housed in a quality non-original G&G purple hard case.

Designed in collaboration between legendary 1960s session guitarist Vincent Bell and Danelectro founder Nathan Daniel, the Coral Electric Sitar became one of the most distinctive instruments ever produced. Its unmistakable sound has featured on hundreds of hit recordings from the late 1960s through to the present day, making it a must-have for collectors, studios and players looking for those unmistakable psychedelic tones.

At the heart of the instrument is the innovative Sitarmatic bridge, engineered to prevent the strings from making a clean break over the bridge. This unique design creates the signature buzzing, sitar-like timbre that made the Coral Electric Sitar famous.

This example retains its original electronics throughout, including the original potentiometers, all of which date the instrument to 1967, making it a highly desirable and authentic first-year example for collectors.

The guitar is fitted with three Danelectro-style lipstick pickups—two serving the primary six-string guitar neck and a dedicated pickup for the sympathetic drone strings. Independent volume and tone controls for both circuits offered an incredibly versatile range of sounds, making this instrument well ahead of its time.

Running along the bass side of the body are the Coral's signature 13 sympathetic drone strings, which add the shimmering, resonant character that defines the instrument's unmistakable voice. Currently, six of the thirteen drone strings are fitted and fully functional. The remaining tuning pegs were reinstalled more recently and are currently non-functional, meaning the instrument is presently configured with six active sympathetic strings. This can be addressed for a buyer wishing to restore the full complement of all thirteen drone strings.
