Beautiful 1978 model Yamaha FC-20 Flamenco Nylon string acoustic.

Incredibly rare, high-end Yamaha Flamenco model.

The Yamaha Grand Concert FC series was part of Yamaha’s efforts to create top quality classical and flamenco guitars, an effort that began in the mid 1960s. At that point, Yamaha arranged for three luthiers – Hiroshi Harada, Hideyuki Ezaki and Toshio Kato, to learn from Spanish master Eduardo Ferrer.  Ferrer subsequently travelled repeatedly to Japan to aid in the production setup.

Later on by the end on 1960’s and during 1970s these luthiers revolutionized Yamaha’s classical guitar line and helped to establish this company as one of the best guitar making company in the world.

Built at the Yamaha head facility in Hamamatsu, Shizuoka Prefecture Japan, this FC-20 is dated 1978 and signed by the master luthier, and is in very good condition. The top is solid Sitka Spruce, with the solid Cypress back and sides traditionally used on Flamenco Blanca guitars. The fingerboard and bridge are Ebony, with Rosewood for the head plate.

Considering it's age, the guitar is in excellent condition - with only minor light marks consistent with light home use.

  • Top: Solid Spruce
  • Back/Sides: Solid Cypress
  • Fingerboard: Ebony
  • String length: 658mm
  • Nut: 52mm
