Here we have a wonderful Norlin Era 1978 ES-335 with original hard case. It's one of the rarer coil tap models (the switch on the treble side horn controls the coil tap) and is a very cool find indeed. The original machine heads are included in the case (though one of the bushings is missing) as they have been upgraded to Grover locking machine heads in the mid '90s .
The original trapeze tailpiece is also included in the case as the B5 Bigsby was installed at the same time the machine heads were upgraded. We can re-install the original tailpiece if desired, but everyone loves a good bigsby, right? The pickups and electronics are all original and sound fantastic - it has the classic ES-335 tone in spades.
Overall the finish presents in good condition - there are various small/light marks, but nothing that is through the lacquer and into the wood, it's all very surface level. There is some shrinking of the binding on the neck which results in a noticeable but small "ridge" along the binding on both the treble and bass side from about the 5th fret onwards. There is also a small gouge in the binding at the 5th fret on the bass side.
The original frets are on the lower side but the guitar is setup with a nice low action and plays without any issues up and down the neck. The customised pickguard bears the moniker "Big Bill" and we think that suits this guitar just nicely. We love Big Bill and we're sure you will too!
