The Ibanez Jem 77 features a basswood body bolted to a maple and walnut neck with a 24-fret rosewood fingerboard with Tree of Life inlays which is scalloped above the 21 fret. Components include an Edge double
locking tremolo bridge (which was also revived in 2010), DiMarzio Evolution pickups with a pair of humbuckers flanking a single-coil and Gotoh tuning machines. It is the first JEM with the DiMarzio Evo 2 as the stock bridge pickup. It also marks the return of the cutaway heel neck joint not used for a JEM since the last Floral Pattern in 2004.
