Finished in an aged Tobacco Sunburst, with Throbak ESG102B pickups - this I-35 LC has looks to match its classic sound.
The Collings I-35 LC might just be the best thing that's happened to semi-hollow electrics in the last 50 years. Collings spent years analyzing some of the very best sounding vintage semi-hollow guitars ever built before designing their line of laminate construction I-35s, and the end result of all that work is nothing short of spectacular. The I-35 LC is an exceptional sounding guitar, with the classic tonescape of a great 335, but with even better harmonic balance and expression. Add to that Collings' commitment to neck feel, set-up, playability, and their uncompromised detail in construction and finish and you'll have an idea of what kind of instrument this I-35 LC is.
The guitar features figured maple laminate top, back, and sides; inset maple center block, slim contour F-holes, aged white bindings, mahogany neck, and dot-inlaid rosewood fingerboard. This example was built with Throbak ESG102B pickups, bevelled 3 ply pickguard. Aged tobacco sunburst nitro finish, and aged finish and hardware. The nickel parts show light oxidation, and the finish is crackled and buffed to a medium lustre. There is no intentional mechanical aging.
A more perfect neck carve might not exist. The I-35 LC's neck has a medium depth, rounded carve with beautifully rolled edges. Nut measures 1-11/16”, scale is 24-7/8”, and the fingerboard is a straight 12” radius. Long mortise and tenon neck joint for the best in tone, and contoured heel for the best the feel.
With deluxe hardshell case.
