1973 Gibson Les Paul Custom, original Australian-delivered example that has survived in very good condition - retaining all original electronics (untouched solder), no major modifications (see list below for the handful of cosmetic items replaced), and no repairs.
'73 models importantly feature a one piece mahogany neck, with long tenon - closer to a 50s/60s spec than the 3-piece maple neck that followed.
Original 'Patent Number' humbuckers sound excellent. All 4 original volume and tone pots are still fitted, dated 1973, and work smoothly & quietly.
This '73 Custom has been played, and shows some moderate play wear for it's age, but cosmetically it presents nicely overall. The most notable section of wear is some buckle rash on the back, and play wear on neck.
Originally the 'fretless wonder' - these Customs had very low frets that by today's standards are quite difficult to play. This one has had a pro refret with medium jumbo frets, to bring it up to a more modern, player friendly specification.
The neck is straight, and the guitar plays beautifully with a nice low action. Truss road adjusts smoothly and is not over-tight.
